Drive smart: save energy, money, your car, and emissions

Before you leave home, plan your trip to do as many chores as possible with the shortest route.

Park and walk if stores are near each other [enjoy the exercise and fresh air]. Remember- a warm engine is more efficient and saves your muffler and engine.

Drive at constant speed when possible and plan ahead to stop to save brakes, tires and gas by slowing not braking.

Don't tailgate-it takes quick stops and you arrive just as soon but more relaxed.

Air resistance quickly takes more gas as you drive faster. Remember- driving at 70 not 65 only saves five minutes on a one hour trip.

Use cruise control on the highway for a uniform speed, 7 percent better mileage, and even a more relaxed trip.

Remember these tips and practice them as you drive
